Jackie's Spring 2009 Update
May 5th, 2009 1:23 pm MDT
Hi everyone. Well it seems spring has finally sprung here in Connecticut, and none to soon! I thought winters down here would be a little more tolerable than up in the Mount Washington Valley of NH, but guess what?? I was WRONG!!! We may not have gotten as much snow here as I have been used to seeing in NH but we sure had some cold temperatures!!! And living so close to the ocean the cold air often has quite a bite to it! But I guess the important thing is that it is finally starting to look like spring around here. So that’s a good thing, right? RIGHT??? So far 2009 has been pretty uneventful, almost boring! My rotator cuff surgery and recovery is now behind me and last week I had my final visit with my orthopedic surgeon. While my right shoulder will probably never be 100% again, it is at least 100% better than it was before the surgery. So that’s a good thing. Jeez that was a long recovery! If I ever injure a shoulder again remind me to have it checked out right away instead of waiting and making the injury worse and worse and worse. That was not too smart! I attended First Event in Peabody MA back in January, and just this past March the COS Banquet here in Connecticut. While COS is not at all even close to First Event in size and attendance, COS was nevertheless a great time and it was nice to again see and spend time with some very special friends. If anyone would like to see pictures from either event I have posted some in my Gallery section. That is really about it for now I guess. My FFS is still a go and is still scheduled for June 30th . We have all the logistics in place including the reserving of the hotel suite that my partner (and caregiver) and I will be calling home for nine or ten days. We have decided to forgo the airline flight to Chicago and will instead be driving, leaving a week early to see some National Parks and other attractions along the way. Hopefully a little R & R will help to calm some of the pre-surgical nervousness I know I am going to experience as June 30th gets closer and closer.!!! Well, I guess that is about it for now. My next journal entry will most likely be written after I have healed from my FFS. So for now my friends…..Be Happy, Be Safe, Keep Smiling and Enjoy Your Life! ~ Jackie Lee
