Colleen loves to dress up

Told the Wife

November 1st, 2008 4:40 pm MDT

Well, I told the wife that I wanted to dress up like a woman for Halloween, she invited me to meet her at the shoe store, to try on some heels. I thought that she was going to say "NO! We looked around and found a nice pair of sexy black high heels. I told her no to mention this to anyone. Well, the night came and she was to meet me at the party, thinking I was going to be dressed up. I told her that I chickened out, and that I shaved myself smooth and tried everything on but just could not do it. I think now, she knows I dress, but is not wanting to deal with it. I asked her if she wanted to see me all dressed up and she said no. So I guess I'm still in the closet, but I think she knows I do this.

Re: Told the Wife Diana Collins November 2nd, 2008 9:12 am MST I wouldn't push it.  I basically was in the same position and finally just came right out and told my wife and she freaked, and my marriage end as a result.  So you've got to be prepared for the worst, even as you hope for the best.

Re: Told the Wife Christa November 3rd, 2008 12:14 pm MST Good for you.  Just sharing that you wanted to dress for Halloween is a big deal!  It's a good first step toward opening up this part of yourself to your spouse.   I don't blame you for chickening out.  Going out in public for the first time can be terrifying, especially to meet you spouse who's never seen you dressed before:  double whammy!   At this point, all you can do it keep the lines of communication open if she wants to talk.  Oh, and keep shaving!   Good luck, girl!

Re: Told the Wife Allison November 4th, 2008 8:42 pm MST   WOW   I think you did good. Little steps at first. (you got a new pair of shoes).   I have read both your journal entries. Why we do this? Have read so much on that and talked to so many people about it. I finally had to say "I dont care". I have that urge and have had for more than 40 years. In 1993 after a near death thing I knew I had to make myself happy in life. Before the year was out I had found a place to dress almost every week and had gone out (scared and excited at same time). Wife found my pics. Accused me of having an affair with this "girl". HAD to dress for her to prove it was me. I was so hurt when she looked at me and said" I want my husband to look like a man". She tried to understand but I knew her heart was not into it. We even went out and to SCC a few times but it always ended in a fight. She is my ex now because of other things. She had pics and could have outed me during divorce but did not. Go slow and be careful!! It is such a shame that putting on little dress is such a big thing to some.   I am marrried now to a woman that I told before we ever went out. She loves it and buys me stuff all the time. A CD's dream. Good luck, Iknow how you feel and wish you the best. Feel free to E-mail me at anytime.                                                   We are all GF's here, Allison

Re: Told the Wife Kerrie November 23rd, 2008 6:26 am MST Thanks for sharing. Too bad you did not have a makeover before you went to the party. As Allison notes, there are moments when one should make the move to be forthcoming to your spouse. I had my first makeover in september to see what kind of girl i would turn out to be. I am pleased with the look, but will have to see how my wife (instead of "the wife") responds to my desires. Enjoying this dressing and being in the transgendered realm feels correct, I will have to be responsive to her requests and see how our relationship grows from here. It is a learning expereince for all of us. All the best.

Colleen, your wife went the distance going to the shoe store to share the thrill of trying on heels (in public) . She arrived at the party waiting on you. She was probally disapointed. Yes she probally know's and was hoping this was her way of breaking the ice. Six years ago, my wife asked me what i wanted for Christmas. I told her a negligee. On X-mas eve we were laying in bed when she pulled from beneath the pillow a black fringy negligee. You betcha, yes, I jumped out of bed and put it on and we have shared and learned so much together. Shopping for heels we just love the looks and attention we get from others. We wish you the best and if you ever get another chance, GO FOR IT.

Read the comments and they sound familar. I am in the process of a divorce and it was for other reasons but during the seperation, someone hacked into my computer and found pictures of CONNIE and it became an issue at court and when the lawyer brought up the subject, i stated that i was indeed imbarassed since the pictures were poorly done and a bit crude(still had the mustache)and i would rather he use these pictures(had new ones)..He backed off the issue since her reputation wasn't spotless either. Hey, i'm 52 years young-i am a former marine and a veteran police officer and if i want to wear a dress and express my inner self then i feel as though i have a right to .My daughter was curious and after a few long talks and being honest with her,she thinks i'm cool and has even gave me tips with makeup but i can't agree with her taste in clothes..My ex and i have talked a few times but i think the other things will keep us apart..Since then, i have come out to several of my friends and i was surprised-you'll find out who they are and a girlfriend who was shocked at first but says i have good taste in clothes and is always calling wanting advice. So i guess you could say its a mixed bag and you can never be sure how people will react but you have to find the strength to be yourself. Things might not always go your way but believe me , you will feel better not haveing to hide anymore.
