BE-All 2010
August 21st, 2010 5:01 pm MDT
I am writing this after two months after coming back from Be-All in Chicago area. It was an amazing experience. I’ve only been out for about 3 times in my life and to find such an acceptable group was great. I was lucky to meet a LGBTG couple who really took me in, and made me feel comfortable months ago and suggested I go. Best thing I have ever done.
I found that being “alone” is the worst feeling in the world, and that you do not have to be that way. There are dozens of girls out there who know what you are going through and need some company too. I think the conference was great because it was a concerted effort to say “Here we Come”, couple hundred strong.
I felt safe. I only regret not being able to dress 24x7, including golf, but I was new and insecure.
Being a minority girl, I have met so many people of and in so many different walks of life including other TG folk, it just blows my mind. Out of 20+ people I spoke to, only 1 was negative. Oh well. Hope she gets it someday.
After 30 years in the closet, I finally came out. I’m half AA/NA and two spirited.
Be-All made me feel proud and most important. “Not afraid anymore”. See you next time. :-) Some place some where.
