? for the Man(agement)

Jon/Dan:  Have you considered including recency of "comment" as one of the criteria for front-queing journal entries?  Since they drop of the immediate radar in a day or so (and that pace will vastly accelerate) you may encourage more revisits by giving prominence to topics that broadly resonate/provoke comment, rather than the latest "Yay, FedEx delivered my VS panties today!" <RETURN> Understood that people may try to "game" any system, and that this proposal could be readily manipulated by frequently commenting on one's own entries!  But the same can already be done by posting 3-4 entries in a row (as has been demonstrated).

To an extent the function already exists but it is vastly underused.....The Forums. Time will tell if the journals gather in momentum or loose interest and fall to a trickle, but what is the purpose of a journal? Is it like an open diary or rather a catalyst for debate? I thought the intention was the former - an opportunity for friends to express feelings and thoughts and in reply provide support and comment or a few jibes on the side. However, I have seen a few well structured and thought provoking posts that I felt would have been better on an open forum to allow others to join in and continue the debate. Unfortunately the forums are pretty much a dead duck at the moment although I understand that is one of the many things Jon and Dan intend to address when they find the time. You are right when such posts are written within a journal a quick rush of posts soon send them tumbling into oblivion..... :o(Posting on a forum would remove any element of gameship from intelligent and constructive posts......not that I would know what that is anyway....!!Kirstyxxx xxxPS what are VS panties????? Vast Size?

FYI, we do plan on adding more features to the Journals including more ways to search them, see the most active threads, etc. We just wanted to get them out there for people to start using them. Dan worked 3 months getting them to the point where we felt we had enough to roll them out. Now, we have some other things to tackle, but, rest assured the Journals will have more features added in the not too distant future.

Re: ? for the Man(agement) Marisa February 24th, 2006 7:27 pm MST To true Kristy, and I couldn't agree more.  Would have said the same myself if not wishing to conserve my bitchy busybody chits ;)  What I'd say, only you said it and said it best.  OTOH, wrangling discussion topics in journal's clothing (and mine are the worst offenders!) into the forum ghost-town is probably a task beyond the abilities of the roughest-toughest cowboy.
