Ahh, the good ol' days...

February 24th, 2007 11:24 am MST

Once upon a time, you could be guaranteed a  few things. Someone knocking on your door, selling vacuum cleaners, periodical subscriptions or aluminum siding, a phone call at dinner time asking for a donation to cure testicular engorgement or a Harikrishna assulting you at the airport wanting to show you a better way.  Today however, its the unsolicited ASSULT on newcomers with the" Please add me to your friends list" request. There are girls here listed on several hundred friends lists with the minimum of 4 on their friends list. Hmmm? why is this? Because it has nothing to do with welcoming new members to the site. It had everything to do with their ego and being listed on the front page. 500 members list you as a friends, most of which haven't heard from you since and you have 4 friends on your list?  shal-low lacking depth; superficial. Cinderella, its midnight, does the shoe fit?

Ha ha ha ha ha!  I have a similar dilemma on Myspace where I get inundated with "friends requests".  Never sure what to do with them as it feels odd accepting a friend from someone I've never met nor received an email.  Nor does it seem too neighborly to refuse them and (in effect) tell them to take a hike.  So I usually just let them pile up and check them out once every week or so when I log onto that account.   It takes time to scan profiles and your page tends to get cluttered when you get over 50 faces. (I think mine did)  Does anyone who sends a friends request ever think about that??? Hmmmm...

And of course there's the expectations and all that rigamarole.  I mean some people get offended if you don't add them to their friends list (after they've added you to theirs).  I don't know about you, Yogi, but I think that sort of defeats the purpose of what this is all about.  I know a number of local gals who I haven't added simply because I see them in real time.   We all know each other and adding another mug to one's profile won't change a thing.

Perhaps what we need on all these mickey mouse domains is a Boa Constrictor list... ("Enemies" or "Foes" just seems a bit too pedantic)  that is "friends" who have a tendancy to grab you around the neck just a bit too tightly much like Alex Forrest/Glenn Close on "Fatal Attraction."  And while I don't have any boas on my list at present, I'm always leery that the next "friend" I accept may turn out to asphyxiate me.   Innocent     Annette Bimbette

I'm really glad I picked you as a friend! I just want other neat people to go to my site and look at the people I think are really cool and have something to contribute to the community. This site runs on drama, intrigue and unbridled emotion sometimes! Add in a few really horny middle aged guys, men on estrogen, Mistresses's, maids, sissy's and men (or women) ducking the ever prying radar of there signifiant others competing for this month ratings or fashion high lights  and you tell me what brew we have concocted!

Re: Ahh, the good ol' days... Jenna Elizabeth Taylor March 2nd, 2007 4:35 pm MST Ahhh, that's the magic of URNA. You NEVER were ON my friends list, so you NEVER fell off. I was 'grandfathered" in with all of the friends I had BEFORE they instituted the 4 friends only policy for non-premium members. So I got to keep anyone on the list, yet not ADD anyone. I met you after this change......So if I pony up the 11 cents a day.....
