Friends of Triangles OFFICIAL FAQ + 2011 Schedule!

FRIENDS OF TRIANGLES – THE OFFICIAL FAQ PAGE!

Hi everyone!  Here's info on my monthly TG parties - from start to finish your answers are probably covered here! If you have questions, message me!

What is “Friends of Triangles?”

Friends of Triangles is the name of the Yahoo group and monthly party I started six years ago at Triangles Café, an alternative bar/club in Danbury, CT. Thousands of members have joined, and the party is now the biggest and best monthly TG-party in the United States!

How do I find your Yahoo group and how do I join?

The group page is here = http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FriendsOfTriangles. I’m the sole moderator of the group, so when you apply for membership, you’re talking to me! Be patient since I sometimes don’t get to all requests immediately.

So, what’s the deal with your parties?

Here’s the deal: Since 2006, I have hosted monthly parties at Triangles that are for the TG community that are open to all!  They are casual and inexpensive nights out – it’s not associated with a convention, or a fancy dinner, or a cause, or an org.  It’s simply a “Tgirls night out” at a fun and friendly nightclub once a month!

Do I have to be a member of the Yahoo group to come to your parties?

No - my parties are always open to all! You don’t even have to join to see the schedule - non-members can still see party dates on the main page by clicking the link above.

Do I have to be a TG/TV/CD to come to your parties?  Do I have to be en femme?

No! Our parties are open to all!  Express your gender and yourself in any way you’d like!

I’m a TG friend/significant other/admirer. Can I still come to your parties?

YES!  My Triangles parties have and will always be open to all!

What do you mean when you say your parties are “open to all?”

Most TG-specific events are sponsored by TG-only communities and because of this are closed, TG-only parties.  OR they are only once or twice a year.  OR they are not very well attended.

Not mine.

Because my parties are held at a regular nightclub that’s open to the public, and because we don’t restrict the venue to be TG-only on party nights, everyone is welcome. That means more people – and more mixed crowds.

On my nights there will always be more TG’s in attendance –our parties AVERAGE between 60-80 T-girls per party! But that doesn’t include the number of friends, family members, significant others, admirers… and also people that identify as gay, lesbian, bi, straight, none of the above, and everything in between!  The common link is that everyone that attends a Triangles party is TG-positive and TG-friendly – showing their acceptance and support of us by partying WITH us!

When’s the next party?

I’m glad you asked!  I post my entire year’s party dates in advance, so you can make long-term plans to attend.  We host 12 parties a year.  The list is below, and will be updated with changes to the schedule or additional info.

What is Triangles Café?

Triangles Café is an alternative bar/nightclub in Danbury, CT.  It is comprised of two rooms, two bars, a patio deck and 3rd bar open during the summer, a dance floor, two lounge/couch areas, a half-dozen TV screens, and a pool table. Triangles is flexible - it has both that “Cheers” neighborhood bar vibe AND the hot urban nightclub experience all under one roof!

For more information check out their NEW website = http://www.trianglescafe.com

Where is Triangles Café?

Triangles Café is in Danbury, CT. It’s about an hour north of Manhattan/NYC, two hours south of Albany, NY, and three hours away from Boston, MA. Because it’s just off I84 it is easy to travel there from either north (New England) or south (NY, NJ, PA).  The address

66 Sugar Hollow Road (Route 7)

Danbury, CT  06810

Google Maps link = http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&client=firefox-a&q=66+Sugar+Hollow+road+danbury&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=66+Sugar+Hollow+Rd,+Danbury,+Connecticut+06810&gl=us&z=16

Your party says it has a “theme.” Is there a dress code? What if I don’t dress in the theme, is that okay?

Themed parties and dress codes are suggested only, NOT mandatory. I’d rather you attend Triangles in any style of dress you feel most comfortable in for a night out than stay away!  Come out and be seen is the only fashion criteria!

Many girls dress for theme, but just as many don’t, so you won’t feel singled out either way. That said, many ladies will dress in costumes or theme, and the themes are a fun and safe way to do something different.  Past themes have included: lingerie, 80’s, formal gowns, Bettie Page/fetish wear, School Girls, Summer/Beach wear, and more!

Do you have a dress or outfit that you never seem to find an occasion to wear?  Show it off by wearing it to Triangles!

How much is it to go to your parties?

I keep these parties inexpensive so admission is the same as any other Saturday night that you’d go to Triangles: FREE before 8PM, and only $5.00 after 8PM.

When does Triangles Café open? And when should I get there for the party?

Triangles is open 7 days a week. The club opens at 5PM each day, and is open until 2AM.  [Last call in CT is 1:30AM on weekends]. Some girls get there before 8PM to save on the cover charge, but most ladies arrive between 8:30P-10P.  The club fills up steadily as the night goes on, and is probably the most packed from 10:30P-12:30A.

That said, come to the club whenever you feel like it!  Some gals want to be en femme for as long as they can be dressed, so will get to the club early to have some drinks.  Others may not be able to stay out too late, so may get there early.

Does Triangles serve food?

They don’t have a regular food menu, so don’t make dinner reservations at Triangles.  They sometimes do free special menu options at our parties, like free sandwiches or snacks, and during the summer they usually have a grill setup on their patio deck for hot dogs and hamburgers.  But don’t plan for these.  Most ladies will grab dinner before they head to the club.

Is there an ATM at Triangles?

Yes, there is! However sometimes it empties out early on a weekend, so don’t count on it 100% of the time! The club will try to let us know in advance via the Yahoo group if it’s not functioning.

Where do people stay if spending the night?

I have a special TRIANGLES group rate at the Comfort Suites Danbury. Our rate is $99/night for a standard room.  This rate is guaranteed year round, so it won’t go up during busier seasons for us! When making phone reservations, mention the “Triangles” party rate.

Remember: 1) it must be a phone reservation; 2) mention “Triangles.”  And 3) BOOK A ROOM IN ADVANCE!  Several times during the year the hotel will sell out completely.  The hotel discount rate is in place for ALL 2011 parties, so even if you book now for December, you’ll get the rate.

Where’s the Comfort Suites Danbury?  How do I contact them?

Here’s the address and phone number. Remember: make your reservation by phone for my Triangles rate:

What’s the Comfort Suites Danbury like?

It’s a great budget hotel. Standard room amenities include FREE internet, free cable TV with free HBO, alarm clock radios with iPod hookups, a couch, mini-fridge, coffeemaker, iron/ironing board, and hair dryer.

There’s also free continental breakfast (cereal, hot food, bagels, waffles, coffee) each morning, coin-op laundry machines on each floor, a small outdoor pool, a workout room with treadmills and weights, and use of a free computer in the lobby with internet access and printer.

ALSO: there’s parking around the entire building AND three extra cardkey entrances to the other than the front door/lobby, which makes it easier to be discreet coming in and going out!

Finally, this hotel is in THE PRIME location for a T-girl getting ready for Triangles! It’s near a dozen restaurants (including three next door), and is less than a two-minute drive from three banks/ATM’s, two supermarkets, three gas stations, two liquor stores, a Starbucks, and only 8 minutes down the highway from the Danbury Mall!

I found a cheaper rate at the Comfort Suites with my AAA/military/AARP/special discount!

My rate my not be the cheapest, so feel free to save a few more bucks by shopping around!  However, my rate stays the same all year, even when the hotel raises their rates during the busy summer, fall, and wedding seasons.  And my rate is always much cheaper than if you walked in off the street and booked a room.

Oh no! The Comfort Suites is sold out! What do I do?

1) Hotels often overbook rooms to account for people who might cancel.  So keep checking back by calling to see if anyone has cancelled.  Even as late as the Friday or Saturday before a Triangles party someone usually changes their plans.

2) If you know some gals that are attending, try posting to the Friends of Triangles Yahoo group and see if anyone has an extra bed or wants to split the costs of a room.  This won’t guarantee a response, but often girls will offer a room-share to save money.

3) I ALWAYS suggest booking your room in advance. Even if you are undecided about the next Triangles, you have until the morning of the reservation to cancel and NOT be charged. So if you are a “maybe,” it doesn’t cost you a penny to make sure there’s room at the inn!

Oh no!  The Comfort Suites is STILL sold out! What do I do?

1) Try calling the hotel one more time – even the day of, they may have a late cancellation.

2) Try posting to the Friends of Triangles Yahoo group – or seeing if any ladies have offered a roomshare.

3) Try another hotel!  The following list are ones I’ve stayed at. Three are less than a mile from the Comfort Suites.  Some may even be cheaper!

Maron Hotel & Suites
42 Lake Avenue Ext., Danbury, CT 0.5 mi E
(203) 791-2200

Danbury Plaza Hotel (Sheraton or Crowne Plaza, I forget which)
18 Old Ridgebury Road, Danbury, CT
(203) 794-0600

The closest motel to Triangles (and cheapest) is on Route 7 less than a mile from the club, but in the opposite direction from Danbury:

Days Inn Ridgefield
296 Ethan Allen Hwy (aka ROUTE 7), Ridgefield, CT
(203) 438-3781

Why did you start these parties?

Once upon a time…

When I first started going out as Tiffany there was not a TG party like Triangles in NYC or the area.  There was a place or two that hosted TG parties, but they usually attracted “working girls.”  And they usually were inconsistent with attendance week-to-week.

At the time, the best TG parties were at Friends Landing in Haverhill, MA. The TG nights weren’t scheduled in advance or organized by anyone.  They weren’t even regular parties – sometimes there’d be two in two months, then none for three.  Usually a gal online in TG group chats would post “roll call” and let everyone know she was going.  The rest of us would chime in and show up.

I would drive up from NYC, book a hotel room, and drive to the club to party! They were a blast!  There was always a big mixed crowd, and usually some “epic” sized turnouts.

A year later, the parties stopped happening for one reason or another. Because they weren’t organized, they faded.  After one or two more decent-sized turnouts, the club closed for good.

A few of us girlfriends in the tri-state area missed Friends Landing.  We went out in the NYC, but it was more expensive (especially for the out-of-towners), and it just wasn’t the same friendly fun that Friends Landing was.

One day, one of them mentioned that Triangles Café seemed like a nice place to visit.  We went one fateful night in November 2006. No one judged us or gave us trouble. I had flashbacks of the fun I had at Friends Landing, and then the wheels started turning in my brain...

I spoke to the management that night about hosting unofficial TG gatherings. He was thrilled!  He always wanted to attract the TG crowd but didn’t know how to find us!  Lucky for him we found Triangles!

Organized via email and cellphone, the first “official” Triangles party was held in December 2006.  We confirmed 12 that were definitely going - and ended up bringing 35 ladies!  I realized that maybe, just maybe, this could be the start of something.

After that party I started the Yahoo group.  Our next party – the second ever and first official one -had a record 130 TG’s in attendance!  That’s still the biggest turnout we’ve EVER had, though we often exceed 100 TG’s per party most months.

Anyone “old school” that remembers Friends Landing may feel a similar vibe at Triangles.  That is what I strived for in organizing these parties.  I am going for the same acceptance, community, and fun that I remembered from my Friends Landing days.

Above all, I wanted to make a party that was low-maintenance, with no pretension.  I started Friends of Triangles because I wanted to create a place to go out en femme and express myself that was safe, positive, inexpensive, casual, and above all FUN!   Exactly the kind of party that I wish existed when I went out for the first few times en femme, as Tiffany.
