According to CBS news last night in S.F. concerning Cal universities considering asking for sexual orientation on apps, it was pointed out that the Cal state universities and community colleges legally already were required to ask.
y men have nipples ?
March 12th, 2012 7:05 pm MDT
I was watching "The Doctors" tv show today 3/12/12 ( might have been the friday show, watched 4 of them recorded on the dvr, so ? ) and one of the questions was "why do men have nipples"? The guest doctor said that we are all born with a female template and thats why men have nipples. And that we only become males, when at about six weeks of gestation we are bathed in testosterone. Thats the first time i've heard a practicing doctor say that. Mostly i've read artclies by research doc's that say that. Maybe the medical profession in becoming more aware of that research. Hope so !

The Doctor's tv show 2-09-12, Melatonin can increase breast size in men and reduce sperm count. Well, that's a 3 fer, bigger breasts, birth control, and better sleep all fm 1 supplement.
The doctor's tv show 2-23-12. 15 mins of sunlight can increase a mans testosterone by 120% and by 200% if your genital skin is exposed. Nudist colony members (pun intended) must be excited by this news. This also applies to vit-d supplements.
Gender article

Article on Yahoo news, http://news.yahoo.com/without-treatment-mental-health-problems-plague-transgender-kids (posted by Stepanie Pappas) Good article, but the comments by the ( i assume) kids, is shocking. They appear educationally challenged, in need of anger management classes, have free floating bigotry of anyone different, don't believe in science at all, don't trust the gov't, and are racist. It is very sad and scary, some of the younger generation have no empathy and no compassion. And many of them appear to be fm the relegious right. What ever happened to, do unto others, as you would have them do unto you ?
More of us then we thought ?

On the Jay Leno show 1/8/12 he quoted fm some study or poll that said 1/3 of men admit to using their wives make-up. Besides being tg, they could be covering a zit, be in a glam rock cover band, or, any other ideas ?
Also in the feb. 2012 issue of Glamour mag on page 163 was one question ( to men ) If you could borrow a woman's body for a day, you would most want to : Play with your boobs all day long ....15% said yes. (all day, reeeally ? ) Hang out in a women's bathroom and get every secret possible ....7% said yes. ( just there for secrets ? hmmm ) Hang out in the women's locker room and just watch-duh! .... 18% said yes. ( well that's more truthfull ) The highest percentage went to, Find out what a female orgasm feels like ...... 48% said yes. For a regular guy (non tg/gay) thats really getting in touch with your feminine side, to admit that, i think. I think the next question would be, what would you do if got to keep her body for as long as you wanted ?
state of the (marriage) union
January 29th, 2012 2:16 pm MST
Jan. 30th 2012 Time mag, on the page headlined NATION a little blurb about same sex marriage rights. It appears about 16 states have some sort of law concerning same sex marriage rights. Some issue licenses, some recognize marriages fm other states, some give state level spousal rights, and some states provide partial spousal rights. That amounts to about 1/3 of all states. It seems to be moving ahead despite the religious and political rights attempts to stop it. And it seems tg rights are moving along just as well.

PLIBGAQT
Sort of pronounceable. PLIBGAQT, does it contain all possible labels? Could use a couple more vowels ! Pan sexual, lesbian, intersexed, bisexual, gay, asexual, queer, transgender. Must be some more labels we can add to it and stiil be pronounceable. My small pet peeve is, that you can't pronounce "LGBT" as a word. not a big fan of labels, but it does help us identify as one thing or a number of things. Not that u have to take a label seriously. We apply labels to ourselves all the time. Some are social, some are physical, some are mental. we label ourselves of a certain politcal party, ethnic group, religion, country of origin, fan of a certain sports team, composer, singer. It goes on forever. And of course, once we label ourselves something, things change and we re-label ourselves. We grow and change all the time. Of course, we are more than "the sum" of our labels. So just for the fun of it, see if I left out any labels for our community and if there is a less awkward arrangement of letters for pronounciation.

Fm Prevention mag. Dec. 2011. Article, Pre existing condition: female. A 44 yr. old woman was denied coverage by 6 insurance companies for an individual policy, after her 44 yr old husband lost his group coverage. She had fibromyalgia, but it was under contol with meds. Her husband was accepted by the same companies that turned her down, even thought he had kidney stones 3 times, had an appendectomy, and was a smoker. She was suspicious. She reapplied to the same 6 insurance companies as a different person with a set of pre existing conditions. And applied as a male with the same set of conditions. As a woman she was denied by all 6 Ins. companies. As a male applicant she was accepted by 2 companies.Insurance companies have a "gender rating". A woman can be turned down for acne,pregnancy,c-section, rape survivor, domestic abuse victim, adoption,or that u work for a company that employs mostly women, but the insurers don't have to tell u why. It's legal in 37 states for insurance co. to charge women more for an individual policy than men. 95 % of the companies practice gender rating, and gender rated denials of coverage. 60% of the plans charged a 40 yr old non-smoking woman 63% more than a 40 yr.old man who did smoke. It's tough out there for women in so many ways. I had no idea this was happening.
school for lgbt
October 21st, 2011 11:52 pm MDT
In the oct. 24th issue of Time mag is a good article about an lgbt school near Milwaukee. Created not just for lgbt students, but also, for any kid thats being bullied for any reason. About half the students are lgbt though. Wow, we come along way, creating a safe place for these students to learn. Probably can find the Time issue online. Article is called "A separate peace?"http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,2095385_2096859_2096805,00.html
tg movie
October 20th, 2011 6:33 pm MDT
In the oct. 3rd People mag movie section, a new movie starring Glenn Close about a 1800s crossdresser called "Albert Nobbs". Didn't say when it was coming to the theaters, or if it is based on a real person. But with Glenn Close playing Albert, it should be good.
TG fashion at the de Young museum
September 27th, 2011 10:46 pm MDT
The de Young museum in S.F. will have an exhibition of Jean Paul Gaultier fashions in2012. It opens March 24th. "The openly gay Gaultier uses his designs to tackle gender and transgender issues through androgynous, gender-bending styles..." He designed the bullet bustier that Madonna wore in 1990 (hard to believe it was that long ago) and the costumes for her Blond Ambition world tour of the same year. Should be fun.

Sept. 26 Time mag reports the same thing as in Newsweek (page 20), but with a little more detail. Researchers found childless men had only a slight drop in testosterone with age. Fathers had double the drop. And those fathers most involved in child care had the lowest levels. they concluded that men are hardwired for parenthood ( just like women). Levels drop once men find a mate. Even more if they have kids. and even more if they are involved in the kids daily care. The more kids the faster it works ( my notion), so if your short of a dozen kids, u can go to RentaRascal.nut or BorrowaBrat.kuk.
mr. mom
September 22nd, 2011 1:23 pm MDT
In Newsweek for 9/26 in the conventional wisdom column the last entry says "taking care of your kid lowers your testosterone". Sounds like it might help some tg inclined mr.moms to become more like ms. moms. Let me see, if i calculated this right, if my spouse and i have 14 kids and i do all the child care, my body should be testosterone free in about 23 hours. what do u think ?
tg exposure
September 5th, 2011 1:16 pm MDT
We've come along ways. I just downloaded songs fm itunes from tg singers, Dana international and kim Pertas. And now dwts is having Chaz on the show.Television has had tg characters on many programs. There also has been many documentaries about tg life. Dr. Oz has had a show on tg. Of course Oprah has had many programs about tg people. You can count quite a few movies about tg life, that have been postitve. And how can we forget the internet, allowing so many people to find out, they are not alone and to find out we are more than OK. In the past, not many people knew what it meant to be tg. Now many do, and there is alot more acceptance and understanding. You can see it in how some kids are speaking up about, who they feel they are gender wise. And how their parents are helping them to be themselves. Oooops, can't forget all the laws that are being passed in many cities and states to protect the rights of tg's. And the tg's in government postions and some in political postions too. Many people can transition on the job these days, how cool. Did i leave any other positive things out ? probably !

stiletto spy school
August 13th, 2011 6:23 pm MDT
Well i decided to ck out the school. It looks like fun. but a little expensive. about 500$ for a class. but if you sign up for their email they will send you a list of ten things u need for urban survival, that u can carry in your purse or backpack ( they didn't mention grenade launcher, which i thought was a big over sight), and keep u informed of their schedule. they do have custom classes, maybe they would do one for tg's. i might ask.
p.s. see "Killer Stilettos" below
killer stilettos
August 12th, 2011 7:55 pm MDT
There was an article in the May Cosmo about self defense, using your high heels. Apparently there is even a school in N.Y. city called "The stiletto Spy School". It teaches women how to think on their feet. And how to use your stilettos for self defense. What you do if some one is attacking you fm the front is to grip your 700$ designer pumps by the toe with the heel facing your attacker and whack them in soft tissue, like face, nose, or neck. Then put your shoe on run like crazy. If your attacked fm behind ( or if somebody attacks YOUR behind and you don't want them to), they said to kick up and back into the groin, hard. They didn't mention that you can also step hard on the top of the arch of their foot, in a frontal or rear attack. so leave the cute ballet flats at home and put on some 3 to 5 inch stunning heels when out, and wear your self defense on your feet to help you be safe.
size matters !!!
August 7th, 2011 3:16 pm MDT
Prevention magazines recent issue just had a little blurb, hips keep widening even after all other bones stop growing, up to an inch more. They didn't say if it was just women, so i assume mens hips widen also. May be wrong. Hip width size does make one more feminine.
I've run across this many times, that women generally wear a shoe size 1/2 size smaller than their real size. The articles have never mentioned why.
I've also read many times that women generally get their bra size completely wrong. The band size is usually too big and the cup is usually too small. The band is suppose to give most of the support, not the straps. If the cups are too small you get that overflow that looks like "muffin top" of the bra. Not a good look !!
Just had a conversation about men (non tg ) who wear panty hose instead of long johns to keep warm, when out in the winter weather, Like hunters. Supposedly they work better than long johns. I know my spouse's father told me he did and he worked in construction. He was pretty tall and husky, i don't where he found a size to fit him. I know my mother said they kept her legs warm, wearing pumps, hose, and a knee length dress in our rather mild ca. winters. And because Kate ( prince williams Kate ) is wearing sheer nude hose, it's starting a trend among women to wear them again. About time !!!

Just a note. I ran into "born male" on the "style" channel, sat. 9 to 10. It follows 5 Ts in New York. I think it's a series. Some very interesting stories and personalities.
Digital exam, no, not that kind
July 5th, 2011 3:16 pm MDT
Digit ratio, between the index finger and the ring finger length, does count. It counts because, the ratio between the 2 lengths shows how much exposure to HORMONES we had in the womb. I had been measuring the difference between the TIPS of the index and the ring fingers in "cm". Visually the ring finger is longer than index finger in men, in women they are about the same length visually. But according to wikipedia, you measure from the crease where the finger meets the palm out to the tip. This gave me a totally different ratio. My index and ring are equal, which means that in the womb I wasn't exposed to very much testosterone. The ratio is more like a woman's. This explains a lot. My hip to waist ratio is also more like a woman's (ideal for a woman is 70%) mine is about 73%, meaning my waist is 73% of my hip circumference. The digital ratio has a lot to do with gender id and sexual id, and apparently many other things, check wikipedia out, enter "digit ratio". Btw, girls like MM and Salma Hayek have hip to waist ratios of 60%. u go girls ! Men have a hip/waist ratio averaging 90%.
