No matter what they promise you in the sales pitch......never..I repeat NEVER build for yourself.... or allow someone to build for you, a pond/watergarden that needs a liner joined together with "pond tape" seaming material!  Four years ago, I built our first and made the error of seaming 2 smaller liners into one.....mind you I followed the instructions to a T and then some for additional safety..........all for not as the phucker developed leaks after a year and we bandaided them......more developed over time and they we reapaired aswell.  This game came to a nasty end last week when the Iris and Elephant Ear plants that took over the boggs......weaseled roots through the seam.....found terra firma and EXPLODED!!!  Water is precious everywhere....but even more so here  (Still dryer than a popcorn fart in my neck of the boonies).  We gave into the 100 gallon+ a day lose when it turned into 200 gallons a day.  Thankfully, I built the bog shelf on the end with the seam so if it did fail.....the pond would still be at least 18" deep.  We drained the bugger down...just below the seam...after moving all the bogg shelf plants to a kiddie pool.  Enginering on the fly...I dumped plans of another bubble gum repair and instead.....ripped off the small end of the liner and built  up a berm where the bog shelf began.  Now the pond is split into two innerconnected bodies and the new seam is at surface level....sealed 2 ways with 100% silicon rubber and only submerged when the pond is maxed out full...and thats great as it works best an inch below max and that CAN'T leak  YEAH!!!!...........Bout killed me and the misses though.....two days in 100+ heat with damn near matching humidity....but now our comfort level is way back up and the redesign by necessaty is a nice improvement to boot.  Sure as hell pissed Charlotte off several times as she had a work of art web from the Irises to the drought killed Sycamore limb above.....shes a huge garden spider for those of you that have stayed with my mind melted by south Texas heat rambelings.......And for those of you that have......a hot bath....close shave later....ole bubba is gone for the night and a sweet happy smooth Alisha has taken over.  Peace to all and to all a great night!
