Shopping, Spring, and Things

March 25th, 2008 7:27 pm MDT

This month is kind of special for my sweetie and myself since both of us have our birthdays in March.  In my last entry I expressed how fortunate I am to have such a supportive and loving spouse, well this week just adds to the feeling.
On Saturday she went to one of her friends party and since I had a lot of things to do I stayed home .  She knew I didn't care to go there since it would be an all afternoon and night thing (with Karaoke) so my not going wasn't any problem.
After finishing up my chores I started thinking about  getting dressed and going downtown to the piano bar so I sent my sweetie a text message letting her know she didn't need to hurry home. She called me right back and said that was fine and asked if I was spending the night or would I be back. I told her no, my girlfriend wasn't there so I wouldn't be drinking anything and would be driving back home after the club closed.
Then came the problem of what would I wear tonight, and although it wasn't cold, it wasn't quite warm either. I didn't want to carry a coat so instead I chose a wrap dress with 3/4 sleeves and hoped I could get a close parking space. I hadn't told anyone else I was going out so it was a pleasant surprise when a couple of friends tapped me on the shoulder while I was getting a drink at the bar (no, I didn't forget I was driving, it was club soda with a lime). Anyway it was fun evening with lots of silly broadway songs and a mixed crowd of crazy people just like me.  Ok,  the previous was sort of repeat on what a wonderful spouse I have,...
When I got home at 2:00am my sweetie was still up (having just got home herself) so she got to see me in the wrap dress which she likes.  I mentioned it was getting into Spring and we probably needed to go looking for some fresh outfits while it was still early.  So on Sunday afternoon we headed to the mall and our usual haunts.  At Nordstroms we once again looked at the shoes she has been drooling over, and being her "B-day" month, we took them home.
Part of our routine is we always look at dresses in Macy's and I found one on a display that made my heart go thumpity-thump,..  But it was still full price so we continued looking.  Now for me I can pass by hundreds of nice dresses but I seem to focus on one style at a time, so as much as we looked I couldn't find anything I liked as much as that first dress.  We went back to check it out more closely and discovered they only had a few and not my size,  damn.   Well today we went to another mall and as usual checked out the Macy's racks. To our surprise there was the same dress, in my size,..  and today it was marked down a little (20 percent only).   I looked it, sized it, and my wife said "You better get it while they have your size",  then she added,... "Happy Birthday",...
So here I am, at my age, married all these years, and my wife,.. buys me a new dress for my birthday.   Now I have to go back to other mall to get the handbag I want that goes with my new dress so I can wear it out this weekend.   And of course while we are there we'll still be looking for her an outfit to go with her newest pair of shoes,...
