Let The Migration Begin
November 11th, 2007 6:56 am MST
For many Canadians and Americans alike, this time of year is one in which our genetic instincts begin to remind us of the great migration we will take in the coming weeks. Like Canada geese, or the Wildabeasts on the plains of the Serengeti in Africa, we too must make ready ourselves for the adventure ahead that will take us to our wintering grounds where we will be warm, have plenty of food and drink, and roam aimlessly for months until the genetic instinct to return to the northern feeding grounds has us return, only if for a short period before another migration to the south.
For me, that instinct has begun. In 2 weeks, my gg and I will be moving to Florida for 3 months, where we will spend most of our time relaxing, exercising, feeding, and well, SHOPPING of course( did you really think I would forget that one?)lol . The preparations have already begun; and this is always the part I hate the most. Of course, I want to take everything I own, thinking if I do, I won't need to buy anymore clothes/shoes. Well of course, we all know the likelihood of that happening is about as realistic as my breasts growing to double d's overnight! So my GG always steps in with those hugh eyes, gives me THAT stare, and I silently begin to return things to the closet immediately knowing full well I'll never get away with that plan. Sometimes I think it would be easier just to take everything because I just can't decide what I really want to take the most. So I come to my senses, and plan out complete outfits fom head to toe and that way, I manage to reduce the size of the wardrobe, which really, should have been my plan from the get go, because I'M GOING SHOPPING, right girls? lol
This year will be our first time out with other girls and their s/o's in Florida. The Tri-Ess chapter where we will be staying have graciously invited us to attend their meetings starting in December this year, so we are looking forward to that. I expect it will be a great time out, and meeting new people will help us both in our development of our relationship with others and each other as well. I'm sure the girls there will have lots of tips for us on where to spend some time dining, shopping, and places to go out for the day just to relax.
I dread the thought of packing, loading, unloading, packing, loading.... as we migrate south but fortunately, it's only a 2-3 day drive as I like to get off the road around 4pm so we can relax for the night. We are usually back on the road around 5 am ( earlybirds, I know) and I love watching the sunrise on my left shoulder. There's something about sunrises and sunsets that just change the entire mood for those few short moments isn't there? The place we usually stay at while in Costa Rica looks out over the Pacific from high above, and the sunsets are nothiing short of miraculous. A silence appears during the last few moments the sun touches and falls below the horizon, like a huge living ball slowing sinking into ocean. Whew!!!! always lose my thoughts when it comes to sunsets, anyway, better get back to packing.
" What's that honey? You say I cannot take three pairs of breastforms with us? But I need them, don't I?" lol
Hugs, Jill
