Echo Awards Party @ Wrigley Mansion

April 29th, 2009 11:32 am MDT

As much as I enjoy going out for cocktails, dinner and the movies en femme, nothing quite fulfills my feminine urges like going to an event at Wrigley Mansion. Special events in Las Vegas, Hollywood or even here in Phoenix are always extra exciting, but the Mansion adds such an air of elegance. It seems so prestigious to walk up and down the spiral staircase and in and out of rooms that hollywood movie stars once wandered through. From the valet to the clicking of stiletto heels on tile to the scenic patios, it is an unbelievable experience that I wish every girl could feel.

I agreed to get ready for the Echo Awards at home after work rather than coming home already en femme like I usually do. I knew what I was going to wear so I had everything ready when I got home around 5pm. My wife had no idea what outfit I had picked as I had only told her I was wearing a longer skirt which put her mind at ease. What I failed to tell her was that I was adding pink tights and a sexy see through mauve skin tight top. I wish the skirt was a little more snug as it would wrinkle and cling as I moved. Since I could not go to a seamstress and have the skirt taken in, I wore a spandex mini slip underneath to help prevent the clinging. I had made the major decision the night before between burgundy and pink nails. The burgundy nails were shorter and more conservative, so naturally I went with the pink ones.

Once I was 100% transformed into Jackie, I stood in front of the mirror and really liked the outfit, even with the longer skirt. I doubt that I would have chosen to wear pink tights with a short skirt and I loved how sexy and stylish the burgundy Baby Phat stiletto heels looked against the pink tights. Pleased with my choice I went to introduce my wife to her date.

My wife looked at me and after momentarily looking shocked, while smiling said, "Why the pink tights"? I told her I had to compensate for the conservative longer skirt. She jokingly said she was hoping to hide me in a corner, but there I was making sure everyone knew where I was. She was absolutely right!

For the first time ever I was ready at home before she was. I had to wait for her instead of her waiting for me. Once she was ready, we left for the Mansion backing out of the garage and driving out of our neighborhood in broad daylight. I don't even worry or feel the trepidation I once did worrying about someone seeing me. I love feeling so relaxed, confident and comfortable with no stress whatsoever.

The Echo Awards Party started at 7:30pm and by the time we left the house, it was too late to go anywhere for cocktails before the party, so we went for a little scenic drive and arrived at the Mansion about fifteen minutes early. As usual, we drove to the top of the hill where the valet was waiting. My wife immediately ditched me walking straight to the entry steps and up through the front door into Wrigley Mansion. I paid the valet and hurried to catch up with my wife. When I asked her why she took off she laughed and said she didn't want anyone to know she was with me. I joked with her that for that little comment I was going to make sure everyoe knew she was with me.

Since we were there so early, we did some exploring of the Mansion walking up the spiral staircase in the main entry to the second level. As we walked around the second level my wife seemed to be very comfortable with me. I took some pictures of her and even convinced her to take some of me. After about thirty minutes of wandering around from room to room, we headed downstairs to the party. The party was the least crowded of all the events I have been to at the Mansion. This was a plus in that my wife was the most comfortable I have ever seen her with me and we were able to easily find places to sit in the bar as well as on any of the patios. It was a beautiful night and the view of the Phoenix city skyline is breathtaking from the mountain top where Wrigley is located.

As we were walking around I noticed Stacy, the manager from a local gay bar in town called Bar 1, standing off to the side chatting with someone. I had talked to him at the bar Wednesday and promised him I would introduce my wife at the Echo Awards. Both he and Jimmy from another local bar called Plazma were nominated for two different awards. It took some work but I finally convinced my wife to go over and let me introduce her.

After a few cocktails we found some comfortable seats with a wonderful view of the city in a room off to the side of the awards room. They began announcing awards and I when I heard the award that Jimmy was nominated for, I went into the awards room and stood to the side of the stage. I was ecstatic when they announced Jimmy as the winner clapping loudly. My wife looked at me and made a semi sarcastic comment that my "boyfriend" had won. Jimmy was dressed very nice in a sport jacket, fuschia dress shirt and tie, quite a handsome hunk.

Later as we were roaming from patio to patio, we ran into Jimmy and talked for a bit. As we walked away towards the bar, a gentleman said "very pretty" as we walked by. My wife kept walking and I turned and recognized Ron, who used to work at Plazma. I introduced him to my wife and while we were talking, Bryan, the owner of Kobalt, walked up and recognized me. I introduced him to my wife as well. Ron informed me that he works for Bryan at Kobalt now. I was worried that my wife would wonder how all these people recognized me en femme as she is still not aware of how many times I went out alone before she started going out with me. Fortunately, the three martinis she consumed helped cloud her clear thinking and the topic never came up. She has become very accustom to being around people who acknowledge me as Jackie which is quite different from when she first started going out with me and would tell me not to talk to anyone. It is like she thinks of me as Jackie when we are out together and I like that very much.

It was around 10pm and the party was winding down so we decided to leave. As we walked down the front stairway to the valet, we ran into Jimmy and his husband waiting for their car. He invited us to Plazma, but my wife had to get up very early so we passed.

Once we were home, my wife immediately went to sleep having had three martinis. I was too thrilled to sleep so I turned on some music...had a drink...took some pictures...had a drink...played Drag Scrabble...had a drink...and took some risque pictures. I may have to wait for more of those drinks to get the courage to post that album (LOL).

I had a wonderful time and judging from the pictures I took of my wife, she had a pretty good time also. In several she has a beautiful broad smile which I usually only see when we are out as husband and wife. There are a few things coming up that I am interested in going to including First Friday this week, the Door Lounge on Sunday nights as they now have a band every Sunday, and the Red Light District Ball at Wrigley Mansion in mid May. Now I just have to get my wife interested (LOL)...Jackie

Sugar & Champagne (at the mansion)

January 20th, 2009 4:06 pm MST

The outfit I chose for Sugar & Champagne was a very form fitting style which always calls for me wearing one of my corsets underneath to help create a more feminine shape for Jackie. Since I was getting ready right after work, that meant wearing the corset all day long under my male clothes. I modeled for my wife in the morning before leaving the house and she said the corset was noticeable, but most likely only because she knew I was wearing it. I thought it was pretty inconspicuous and decided to be a bit risque and just wear it even if it did show. The skirt was so tight that you could see the outline of the corset so I also was wearing a lycra spandex mini slip to smooth things out.

I was excited all day anticipating going out later, especially due to the constant reminder of feeling the restriction of the corset as well as the slip. I am one of those girls who absolutely loves the feeling of wearing a real corset. Not only does the restriction not bother me, it invigorates and excites me. In another life, I would love to have found someone who found pleasure in "corset training". I can't even get my wife to lace up the corsets I have. It takes me hours of trying on and removing and readjusting the corsets I have to get them snug enough for my liking and to get the look I want. I can only tighten the waist so much and still get them on by myself.

I managed to get my make-up done and get all dressed by 4:30. That gave me enough time for a few pictures. The skirt was so long that I skipped any really risque photos. I called my wife as I was driving on the freeway and told her I was on my way. When I pulled into our neighborhood, it was 5:15 and I was well aware that several neighbors arrived home from work around 5:30 when I usually pulled into the driveway from work. My wife was sitting on the couch all ready to go. Sometimes I forget just how stunning and gorgeous my wife is. She was wearing a red short tiered party dress I had bought her for New Years. Since we did not go out for New Years, she decided to wear it to Wrigley Mansion. I applaud her decision on the red dress as well as her choice of heels. She wore her red and yellow Carlos Santana wedge heels, which are one of her favorites as they are so very sexy and still comfortable for her to walk around in. That meant she was planning to walk around the mansion with me instead of making us stick in a chair someplace. She was very pleased with my skirt but had not seen my blouse choice until I walked in the door. As far as the skirt, she said I was finally growing up. After referring to my blouse as "flaming transvestite" attire, she obliged me by taking a picture of me.

We backed out of the driveway and my neighbor on the left had just pulled into his driveway and was getting out of his car. As we pulled away, he waved without really noticing that I was en femme. I raced out of our neighborhood hoping not to pass anyone else on their way home. It was only 5:30 and still light outside, so it was rather easy to see I was in drag when driving by. The Sugar & Champagne event did not start until 7pm and due to the fact that the main entrance is at the top of a mountain, you either have to valet park or walk up the mountain. Neither my wife nor I were wearing shoes made for climbing mountains so my plan was to valet park. At the Summer Chill we waited for about 30 minutes to get up the mountain to the valet, so I intended to arrive at least a half hour late hoping the early traffic would clear. My wife enjoyed the last time we went to The Door Lounge in Scottsdale so I headed there. It was a half hour drive, but they have 2 for 1 specials every day between 4pm and 8pm and they have a very nice martini menu.

A we walked in the door, my wife was worried that we were overdressed so I mentioned to the bartender that we were on our way to Sugar & Champagne. Jim, one of the partners, was tending bar and makes some unbelievably good martinis. I got up and went over to play some songs on the juke box and when I returned my wife was in a full conversation with a gentleman who was sitting a few seats down at the bar. She was telling him all about where we were going and I was suprised and very pleased that she seemed excited about going. Jim remembered us from the last time we were there and suggested we march in the MLK parade in Mesa with him and some other people as a statement for marriage equality. I told him I would have to march in heels and he seriously asked me if I had any "sensible" flats. I laughed and said I had no flats, sensible or unsensible. Obviously, he is not familiar with Jackie's style. We left after about an hour and headed for the mansion, bidding Jim farewell.

As we pulled into Biltmore, I thought I could remember how to get to Wrigley Mansion. I was wrong and we ended up getting lost inside Biltmore. Even in feminine persona, I was still too stubborn to ask for directions instead driving around until I found it. We drove up the hill, I handed the valet a five dollar bill and we walked up the steps to the front door. As we walked in we handed them our tickets and they handed each of us a glass of champagne. I was happy that this event was not as crowded as the Summer Chill. Summer Chill was so crowded you could barely walk around. After walking down the main hall, you could go into one of many rooms where there was room to walk, sit and just wander around and look at things. We walked around the entire lower level, and did a quick up the stairs and down the stairs tour so we knew where everything was ending up in the main bar downstairs. What a thrill it was to be walking around the Wrigley Mansion in full feminine mode sipping champagne. I finished my champagne while we were walking around and my wife refused to give me hers instead leaving it in one of the rooms upstairs still full. Once downstairs, we stood at the bar and waited to order drinks. My wife ordered an Appletini and I ordered my usual Malibu and pineapple. While standing at the bar, a gentleman standing next to me touched my tattoo and told me he absolutely loved my lips. I told him the tattoo was an image of my wife's lips and he asked her to pucker up so he could compare the two. She laughed, but refused to pucker up. She took a few sips of her martini and then we started wandering around some more with me carrying her drink for her. We explored the patios and all the other rooms downstairs. There was a DJ in one of the main rooms and a second bar in another. It was beautiful to just walk out on one of the many patios and look at the views of Phoenix at night from the top of a mountain. The weather was fantastic and we stood outside sipping drinks for some time.

I needed a second drink so we went back to the main bar and found a table to sit at right in the main entry. I left my wife at the table to order another cocktail and when I returned I saw Jimi, the hunk from Plazma and Jim, the owner of Plazma coming down the stairs from the upper level above the bar. They did not see us as they were talking with a group of people so I did not approach them. After they went out a side door onto a patio, I went to look for them to introduce Jim to my wife and say hello to Jimi. I could not find them anywhere, but there are so many walkways that loop around and connect all the rooms both upstairs and downstairs that I just returned to the table. As I was walking back to the table, an attractive women who appeared to be one of the organizers told me she saw me walk in and loved my blouse calling it very brazen and she growled. I told her thank you and continued to where my wife was waiting. A woman from SWAY stopped at our table and asked if she could take a picture of us. I said of course and she left a business card so we could look at the result on their website. My wife asked me if I was worried that someone we know might see the picture and I told her they wouldn't recognize me. I said the worst thing that could happen is she would be explaining why she is hanging around with an ugly woman.

I convinced my wife to go wander around the mansion some more while we look for Jim and Jimi. I found Jim in the second bar and introduced him to my sexy wife. He looked her up and down, then looked at me and said she's got you so beat. I started laughing and told him at least now he could see what I was shooting for. He just said I was a distant second. My wife liked him immediately and I reminded her that "charm" has no gender much like "sexy". We walked around some more exploring the upstairs rooms which were originally bedrooms. While upstairs we ran across another couple just like us and met a very nice woman on one of the balconies off a bedroom. We sat and talked with her for ten or fifteen minutes and then did some more roaming about. Every room upstairs has it's own balcony with a different view of the city.

We went back downstairs and ran into Jimi and his husband. We chatted with them for a while and I suggested to my wife that we leave and go eat somewhere. There were lots of free desserts throughout the mansion which my wife had tried but we had not yet eaten dinner. She suggested we stop and get fast food and I suggested we go to Switch and get crabcakes. As we were leaving the Mansion, I had to run back inside to break a twenty so I could tip the valet. My wife suprisingly went outside by herself and when I caught up with her she was engaged in a conversation with the valets. She appeared much more comfortable than any time we had gone out previously.

I found Switch easily by looking for Durants and we enjoyed delicious appetizers and panzinni. Jackie had seafood for the second time and we headed for home around 11pm. I had a wonderful time and I think my wife actually enjoyed herself for the first time with Jackie. I would recommend going to the Wrigley Mansion at least once just to explore. It is open for cocktails every Friday and Saturday after 4pm and well worth the trip, including the valet parking. Jackie loves going to the Mansion and the Mansion was made for her...Jackie

Sugar & Champagne (the night before)

January 20th, 2009 4:03 pm MST

I had received an e-mail from Sway in December about the upcoming Sugar & Champagne event at Wrigley Mansion. The whole experience of walking around the Wrigley Mansion at their last event was one of the high points in Jackie's life. It ranked right up there with the Las Vegas limo excursion and Hollywood dinner and cocktail night. My wife had agreed to go but I still remembered how uncomfortable she was the entire time we were there at Summer Chill. I waited until the night before to purchase tickets with her assurance that she would try her very best to relax. The tickets are very reasonable at only $20.00 each, but I still do not want to spend $40.00 to watch her be miserable.

The skirt I finally decided to wear was an effort to do my part to make her more comfortable. I started trying on outfits the night before with the intent of wearing my new teal sweater and black pleated skirt. When I was getting the sweater out of the drawer I stumbled upon a black form fitting mini dress that I had purchased more than a year ago with the hope of wearing it to some upscale event. Wrigley Mansion was pretty upscale so I tried the dress on. It was even a bit longer than most of my skirts falling halfway between my knees and flash zone. I could tell the skirt would creep as I walked around and flash whenever I sat down, so I immediately overruled the teal black outfit. After trying several belts for accent, finally choosing a wide white Guess belt, I put on a pair of black and white leopard heels and walked out into the living room to show my wife. Unfortunately, she had fallen asleep and since she gets up at 4am I was not about to wake her.

I returned to the front room to put the teal sweater away and begin choosing make-up and jewelry, excited about walking around the house in the dress and shoes. As I was putting the teal sweater back in the drawer, I spotted a teal blue leopard pattern skirt I had purchased on ebay for $5 a while back. I absolutely loved the color and pattern and bought it knowing it was a longer skirt intending to take it somewhere to be altered to a more standard "Jackie" length. I managed to get the dress unzipped and quickly peeled it off and tried on the skirt. I loved the form fitting look and the length actually seemed very classy and yet I still felt quite sexy walking in it. My first instinct was to wear a pair of 6 inch black stilettos that I have never worn with my wife to spice up the outfit and push it a bit closer to my usual "over the top" look, but reason prevailed and instead I remembered I had a pair of teal and blue Nina heels that are very dressy, classy and one of my lowest heels, and as luck would have it, the shoes matched perfectly. I tried a silver sweater, purple sweater, pink sweater, blue blouse, white blouse and finally my black "screaming transvestite" blouse. It was no contest especially since the black blouse was a strappy shoulder baring top that would display the "lips" tattoo on my left shoulder. I put everything else away, chose teal earrings, a teal pendant necklace and started painting some medium length teal nails. I made the decision to get ready before I came home just in case the kids were around the house or something else popped up to intefere with our plans. The worst case scenario would have me sitting at Retrobar waiting to go pick up my wife if a delay developed and I would be guaranteed time to take some pictures.
