Echo Awards Party @ Wrigley Mansion

April 29th, 2009 11:32 am MDT

As much as I enjoy going out for cocktails, dinner and the movies en femme, nothing quite fulfills my feminine urges like going to an event at Wrigley Mansion. Special events in Las Vegas, Hollywood or even here in Phoenix are always extra exciting, but the Mansion adds such an air of elegance. It seems so prestigious to walk up and down the spiral staircase and in and out of rooms that hollywood movie stars once wandered through. From the valet to the clicking of stiletto heels on tile to the scenic patios, it is an unbelievable experience that I wish every girl could feel.

I agreed to get ready for the Echo Awards at home after work rather than coming home already en femme like I usually do. I knew what I was going to wear so I had everything ready when I got home around 5pm. My wife had no idea what outfit I had picked as I had only told her I was wearing a longer skirt which put her mind at ease. What I failed to tell her was that I was adding pink tights and a sexy see through mauve skin tight top. I wish the skirt was a little more snug as it would wrinkle and cling as I moved. Since I could not go to a seamstress and have the skirt taken in, I wore a spandex mini slip underneath to help prevent the clinging. I had made the major decision the night before between burgundy and pink nails. The burgundy nails were shorter and more conservative, so naturally I went with the pink ones.

Once I was 100% transformed into Jackie, I stood in front of the mirror and really liked the outfit, even with the longer skirt. I doubt that I would have chosen to wear pink tights with a short skirt and I loved how sexy and stylish the burgundy Baby Phat stiletto heels looked against the pink tights. Pleased with my choice I went to introduce my wife to her date.

My wife looked at me and after momentarily looking shocked, while smiling said, "Why the pink tights"? I told her I had to compensate for the conservative longer skirt. She jokingly said she was hoping to hide me in a corner, but there I was making sure everyone knew where I was. She was absolutely right!

For the first time ever I was ready at home before she was. I had to wait for her instead of her waiting for me. Once she was ready, we left for the Mansion backing out of the garage and driving out of our neighborhood in broad daylight. I don't even worry or feel the trepidation I once did worrying about someone seeing me. I love feeling so relaxed, confident and comfortable with no stress whatsoever.

The Echo Awards Party started at 7:30pm and by the time we left the house, it was too late to go anywhere for cocktails before the party, so we went for a little scenic drive and arrived at the Mansion about fifteen minutes early. As usual, we drove to the top of the hill where the valet was waiting. My wife immediately ditched me walking straight to the entry steps and up through the front door into Wrigley Mansion. I paid the valet and hurried to catch up with my wife. When I asked her why she took off she laughed and said she didn't want anyone to know she was with me. I joked with her that for that little comment I was going to make sure everyoe knew she was with me.

Since we were there so early, we did some exploring of the Mansion walking up the spiral staircase in the main entry to the second level. As we walked around the second level my wife seemed to be very comfortable with me. I took some pictures of her and even convinced her to take some of me. After about thirty minutes of wandering around from room to room, we headed downstairs to the party. The party was the least crowded of all the events I have been to at the Mansion. This was a plus in that my wife was the most comfortable I have ever seen her with me and we were able to easily find places to sit in the bar as well as on any of the patios. It was a beautiful night and the view of the Phoenix city skyline is breathtaking from the mountain top where Wrigley is located.

As we were walking around I noticed Stacy, the manager from a local gay bar in town called Bar 1, standing off to the side chatting with someone. I had talked to him at the bar Wednesday and promised him I would introduce my wife at the Echo Awards. Both he and Jimmy from another local bar called Plazma were nominated for two different awards. It took some work but I finally convinced my wife to go over and let me introduce her.

After a few cocktails we found some comfortable seats with a wonderful view of the city in a room off to the side of the awards room. They began announcing awards and I when I heard the award that Jimmy was nominated for, I went into the awards room and stood to the side of the stage. I was ecstatic when they announced Jimmy as the winner clapping loudly. My wife looked at me and made a semi sarcastic comment that my "boyfriend" had won. Jimmy was dressed very nice in a sport jacket, fuschia dress shirt and tie, quite a handsome hunk.

Later as we were roaming from patio to patio, we ran into Jimmy and talked for a bit. As we walked away towards the bar, a gentleman said "very pretty" as we walked by. My wife kept walking and I turned and recognized Ron, who used to work at Plazma. I introduced him to my wife and while we were talking, Bryan, the owner of Kobalt, walked up and recognized me. I introduced him to my wife as well. Ron informed me that he works for Bryan at Kobalt now. I was worried that my wife would wonder how all these people recognized me en femme as she is still not aware of how many times I went out alone before she started going out with me. Fortunately, the three martinis she consumed helped cloud her clear thinking and the topic never came up. She has become very accustom to being around people who acknowledge me as Jackie which is quite different from when she first started going out with me and would tell me not to talk to anyone. It is like she thinks of me as Jackie when we are out together and I like that very much.

It was around 10pm and the party was winding down so we decided to leave. As we walked down the front stairway to the valet, we ran into Jimmy and his husband waiting for their car. He invited us to Plazma, but my wife had to get up very early so we passed.

Once we were home, my wife immediately went to sleep having had three martinis. I was too thrilled to sleep so I turned on some music...had a drink...took some pictures...had a drink...played Drag Scrabble...had a drink...and took some risque pictures. I may have to wait for more of those drinks to get the courage to post that album (LOL).

I had a wonderful time and judging from the pictures I took of my wife, she had a pretty good time also. In several she has a beautiful broad smile which I usually only see when we are out as husband and wife. There are a few things coming up that I am interested in going to including First Friday this week, the Door Lounge on Sunday nights as they now have a band every Sunday, and the Red Light District Ball at Wrigley Mansion in mid May. Now I just have to get my wife interested (LOL)...Jackie
