My Short Hair

August 1st, 2006 6:25 am MDT

Okay, so now you see how I've progressed over the years... from long hair and lots of makeup to short hair and minimal makeup. You can kind of see what I look like from the new pics here on URNA, but if you really want to see my pics in ultra high resolution, check out my July blog at www.transvamp.com. I've struck a balance with my makeup in my quest to look and be real (a real woman, that is). I hope you like my new look. It's here to stay for a while. I might even switch back to my bell-shaped hair temporarily if I want my hair to look fuller.

Kalina, you know I love your look, but what I loved in your July blog was your expression looking at lobzilla! Not quite as big as the biggest I've had (wait--don't go reading into that statement, lol), but it looked delicious. Of course, coming from Maine and having worked in a lobster shop, I've had my share of 4- and 5-pounders. The meat is more tender depending on the season, though much bigger than 5 pounds and they do get tough (and illegal: big lobsters have to be thrown back because they reproduce more). One guy I knew kept a huge lobster, so big only its claw was in the trap (I've seen the claw: a big man could put his hand in it like a glove).

4 or 5 pounds?! Those are REALLY BIG lobsters! Yummy! I would have such a tummy ache after eating a lobster that big. I guess it would have to be shared, but each of the two claws has a distinct taste; I sure would hate to share my claws!

I got the SB-600 for my D70s at your recommendation. It looks like it can do a lot... but the manual is also an advertisement for everything the SB-800 can do! Grrrr... I might have to get one of those someday. I also got the little remote which doesn't work all that well.

The claws actually are big enough to share, but better to each have a 4-pounder to oneself! Actually, my favorite weight is 2.5 lb: just big enough, and very sweet. "Chicken" lobsters (1-pound) are hardly worth the effort, lol.

The SB-800 is the better flash, but I'm very happy with the SB-600. I shot the Celtic Festival recently with the D70, using the SB-600 for fill flash and it made a world of difference, especially given the heavy overcast both days. It throws the light quite a distance and really brought out skin tones and details both under the heavy overcast and under the awning overhanging the stage.
