Express Chameleon!

On the weekend I was in Sydney visiting so that I could attend my friend Cyberqueen’s Future Fashion Exhibition in Darlinghurst. When I arrived I walked into a bit of a panic as the gallery owner had promised early access to set up the exhibition & then this changed due to a Nike presentation over taking the venue. This meant that they were not given access to set up the exhibition until 4pm the day before. Angie (Demaskau also a good friend of mine) & Cyberqueen had been working tirelessly on the preparation for months until then.

               I leant a hand as well to help with the setting up basically as soon as I arrived in Sydney (about 7pm) until about 3.30am Friday morning. I then went back to my hotel for a few hours sleep & was up again at 7am. A brisk ½ hour walk & I was at Angie’s place ready for the trip to pick up some mannequins for the show in south western Sydney. So after a quick bite to eat in a local café, we embarked on our journey in a clapped out “rent a truck” with 180 degree air conditioning (both windows wound down!) suffering the summer heat. Eventually we successfully retrieved the mannequins & arrived back at the gallery at about 11.30. The exhibition was due to open at 6.30 PM and a tonne of work was still required. So I went to it helping to setting up the upstairs area where the photographs were to be displayed whilst Angie worked downstairs where the mannequins would be located & also she coordinated the other helpers & arrivals of refreshments etc.

             During this insanely busy time I was bumping into & meeting everybody involved in boy mode – grubby T -Shirt & jeans, sweaty 2 day growth, messy short hair....you get the picture not much in the “femme” way at all! So we powered along all after noon with the hours ticking by, I had hoped to leave to get ready by 4pm however there was just to much to get done so I ended up going about 4.45pm. A quick walk to my hotel room where Cat was already started & it was time for a quick transformation! Seeing that I hadn’t even unpacked my bag it was going to be hard to make the 6.30pm start time!

      After laying out all my stuff I powered into the usual jobs, shaving, shower, makeup dressing…etc, Interrupted only for a very brief visit for Angie who was attending in boy mode (poor thing!) to look after the visitors, she needed to freshen up & my room was close by so it was the venue!...such a panic I even had to lend her some socks as they were forgotten that morning!

       Back to it & eventually I was cat suited wigged & all shiny ready to go at about 6.55pm…..whew!!  As it was quite warm we decided on a cab even though it was only a short walk to the Gallery. Arriving out the front we felt very special as the security guys opened the doors & assisted as from the cab. So wearing chic sunglasses we made our entrance a scant 2 hours later, totally unrecognizable from the previous grubby appearance! Ahhh the true magic of a good transformation! People working setting up earlier didn’t recognize me at all (those that don’t know me) & it was quite amusing to see the looks on the faces when they found out! :o)

       The evening was well attended & was a great success congratulations to Cyberqueen on a wonderful exhibition!

The black shiny catsuit was well accepted as well there were a lot of “vanilla” people in attendance & the appearance of head to toe gleaming rubber was quite an eye opener for them! There were other fabulously dressed people as well adding a real eclectic feel to the event.

After the event we partied on in a bar called “Slide” where the fun continued until the wee hours, the weather even played nice & cooled down to a sane level for the rest of the evening, allowing little rubber kittens to play in comfort!
