A little about me

September 16th, 2007 7:53 am MDT

I write poetry. It is typically from the heart and about some time in my life or about someone I hold dear. Some of it is bright and cheerful and some of it is dark and disturbing.

I am an activist for trans rights, political issues, animal maltreatment, and human rights.

I write my congressional representatives frequently to tell them how I feel about issues surrounding the TLGB community and the path our country is taking. I encourage all to do the same. I also write to my local paper now and then regarding the op-ed comments of others on varying issues and have been published each time so far...yay! I believe that we, as individuals can make a difference. Some would label me as a liberal, but I really see myself as primarily a moderate. I believe that we should do the right thing and I speak out when I feel that we are doing otherwise. I really hate labels and don't like to be boxed in by them. We, trans people, live diverse and interesting lives and should be proud of who we are.

I love music of all types, except country and western and gangsta rap. I am especially fond of the Beatles. I collect as much Beatles stuff as I can afford. I also love Mozart and have been to see an opera of his. I never thought I would be able to say that as I really didn't think I would like opera, but it was very entertaining. The lady next to me in this photo is Lizzie West. I love her music! It is unique and speaks from the heart.

I suffer from depression and take meds to keep my moods in check. Imagine that! A trans person with depression. I know I am not the only one.

I like people. I hate dealing with idiot drivers, although I imagine others think I am an idiot in traffic.

I am employed at a nuclear power plant and have been for over 25 years. I am currently an instructor for those who wish to learn how to operate the plant. I held a Reactor Operator license for 10 years and a Senior Reactor Operator license for 6 years. As a Senior I was a Control Room Supervisor.

I don't know what else to tell you, so feel free to ask me whatever you want.

Roni
